Green Horizons Turf Farm

Green Horizons Turf Farm: Growing Grass, Family, and a Legacy
From lush sod for golf courses to hardy grass seed for homeowners, Green Horizons Turf Farm has been greening up the mid-Atlantic one lawn at a time. For owners J and Andrea Ware, farming isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. After college, J knew he wanted to take a different path from traditional agriculture, and Green Horizons was born.
The farm isn’t just a business for the Wares; it’s a way of life they’re passing on to the next generation. “It gets me excited that our kids are able to be a part of the business here on the farm,” Andrea shares. “Our son has already planted his own seeds of entrepreneurship, running a small pumpkin and cattle business on the property. We think our daughter will follow suit as well,” Andrea adds.
Watching grass grow might sound cliché, but for the Wares, it’s a deeply rewarding experience that’s rooted in over two centuries of family tradition. J’s farming roots run deep in Jefferson County soil. His family has been farming there for more than 200 years, and he’s always known it was his destiny “since I was a little kid playing tractors on the carpet,” he shares.
With a thriving business, a love for agriculture, and a legacy to share, the Wares are growing more than just grass—they’re cultivating a future filled with family, hard work, and plenty of green horizons.
